Backpack Project

Backpack Project

Gateway is working with Lexington-Richland School District 5 to provide backpacks and school supplies to children in need at seven schools. Pre-selected recipients and their families are invited to our campus for a back to school celebration on Saturday, August 17. You can be involved by providing backpacks and school supplies or by volunteering. Here is a list of volunteer positions:

Set-Up Team – Set up tents, table, chairs, and other things. (Need to arrive at 7:30 am.)

Hospitality Team – Offer refreshments, friendly conversation, and smiles.

Children’s Team – Play games, do crafts, and have fun with the children.

Greeter Team – Greet and direct our guests while helping them feel comfortable on our campus.

Tear-down Team – Help take down equipment and put away at the end of the event. (Will finish about 1:00 pm.)

Pre-Event Phone Calls – Call backpack recipients and make sure they received information for Backpack Day. Calls to be made August 12 – 15, 2019.

Post-Event Phone Calls – Follow-up with people who visited Gateway for Backpack Day, answer questions, and invite them back to future events. Calls to be made August 26 – 30, 2019.
