Helping Hurricanes Florence and Michael Victims

We were very fortunate that our area was spared when Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas, but we know that our neighbors in Eastern North and South Carolina were not. Then just weeks later, we saw Hurricane Michael hit the panhandle of Florida and parts of Georgia. Because of your faithful giving to the Faith Missions Offering, Gateway will send a gift to Southern Baptist Disaster (SBDR) designated for hurricane relief to assist with the recovery from both of these hurricanes.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) feeding, chainsaw and mud-out units continue to minister in multiple locations in the Carolinas, providing thousands of hot meals, essential supplies and trained volunteers to communities affected by Hurricane Florence. Category 4 Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, and volunteers and equipment are serving affected areas, providing help and hope in tangible ways.

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is one of the three largest providers of disaster relief assistance in the United States. Southern Baptist churches, associations, and state conventions all partner to mobilize volunteers, resources, and equipment to provide services. The North American Mission Board provides national coordination and assistance in larger, multi-state responses.

At this time, we feel this is the best way we can help the victims of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. If other opportunities present themselves, we will let you know.
